Vera Fortis
A home for international voices and radical forms, VERA FORTIS is a collaborative company of designers, actors, producers and writers.
EDUCATION & ARTIST DEVELOPMENT
VERA FORTIS operates a parallel educational initiative dedicated to sustained, high-level professional development for working artists.
Through masterclasses, workshops, and mentorship, the program supports actors, directors, writers, and interdisciplinary creators navigating the space between formal training and long-term practice.
The focus is on:
- rigorous engagement with text and performance
- cross-cultural and interdisciplinary exchange
- mentorship across generations
- the development of artistic accountability
Particular attention is given to artists shaped by displacement, migration, and political conflict.
Education is not auxiliary—it is foundational to the company’s mission.
PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
Each project extends beyond performance through post-show discussions, public conversations, and community events addressing:
- war and political violence
- refugee and immigrant experiences
- PTSD and intergenerational trauma
- gendered violence
- questions of belonging and identity
Audience dialogue is not an addition to the work—it is part of the work.
VERA FORTIS rejects passive spectatorship. It asks audiences to witness.
MISSION
VERA FORTIS creates rigorous, politically charged work that centers female experience, amplifies international voices, and challenges inherited forms.
It exists to confront, to remember, and to resist amnesia.
